2007 NASA Nationals Championship Update

October 22, 2007

Progress makes its mark at 2007 NASA Championships
Four Podium finishes for Progress equipped vehicles

ANAHEIM, Calif. The 2007 NASA Championships at the legendaryMid-Ohio Sports Car Course has come and gone, but not without Progress leaving their mark.  The Progress Group had three Progress equipped cars taking home four podium finishes!  It seems that $11,000 worth of contingency sponsorship motivated drivers this year.

Coming in on top of one of the most challenging fields of drivers was Bernardo Martinez in the Hasport 1994 Acura Integra.  With a best lap-time of 1:35 in the Honda Challenge H1 class, he simply set a pace that no one could touch.  Bernardo has plenty of track time in Hasport’s Honda powered FWD monsters, so it comes as no surprise that his first year competing in the event he was able to take home the H1 National Championship.

Next, the 2007 Scion tC driven by Dan Gardner.  Dan was able to get 2nd place finishes in both the Time Trials class TTE and Performance Touring class PTE with a best lap-time of 1:43.  Being the first year a Scion tC has been run in a national level road racing event, it was quite an accomplishment that he was able run so well.  Fortunately for Dan, Progress has plenty of experience with the tCs after they set up the entire line-up of Long Beach Grand Prix Pro-celebrity cars; it just took a little more fine tuning to get Dan where he needed to be.

Lastly, we had the tried and true Nissan B13 chassis helping us net our 4th podium finish at the Nationals, coming in right behind Dan and his tC.  Joseph DiMinno gave Dan Gardner a run for his money in the Performance Touring class PTE, also getting a 1:43 lap-time and earning himself a 3rd place finish at this national championship event.

It’s easy to see that Progress still has what it takes to make a national level racecar go around the track with the best of them.  The results speak for themselves and hopefully next year they will have even more competitors with their products earning more podium finishes!
