Bisimoto drag Insight wins IDRC Fontana event
Greetings,
What a wonderful weekend: this past Saturday and Sunday, marked the inaugural International Drag Race Circuit (IDRC) West Coast Nationals event at the Auto Club Dragway, in Fontana, California. The conditions were in the low 70 degree Fahrenheit range, with density altitude hovering around 2500ft in elevation. We were competing with our Team Bisimoto 2006 Honda Insight 420whp naturally aspirated drag car. The Insight was entered in the Pro All Motor class, and qualified in the #1 spot with a 9.38 at 142mph, on smaller 26” slicks opposed to my normal 28” rubber!
With the track conditions and tire size, this was an amazing feat, as this time was the 3rd quickest of all the front wheel drive cars at the event: rivaling and surpassing those of turbocharged fwd vehicles making over twice the power. Our Progress-equipped Insight chassis made it through the rounds, with consistent mid 9s second passes. In the finals, despite a missed 3rd gear, we secured the win versus a rotary powered drag Mazda, with a 9.7 second elapsed time at over 140mph. People went crazy, during each run, wondering how a naturally aspirated, single overhead cam vehicle could run times faster than over 90% of the turbocharged cars at the event…a true testament to the technology in the Bisimoto drag Insight.
It was a pleasure seeing representatives of AEM electronics, PurOl lubricants, Verizon, Turbonetics turbochargers, Golden Eagle, Arias Pistons, and Insane shafts at this event. Thanks, for your support, and have a great week!
Sincerely,
'Bisi Ezerioha
